چکیده
The present study examined the effects of the androgen steroid, dihydrotestosterone (DHT), on murine T-cell production of a number of lymphokines. Direct exposure of murine T cells to DHT in vitro was found to reduce the amount of interleukin-4 (IL-4). IL-5, and y-interferon (ylFN) produced after activation with anti-CD3 without affecting the production of IL-2. Exposure of T cells to either androstenedione or testosterone (the metabolic precursors of DHT) affected no change in the biosynthesis of either of these lymphokines. We have determined that macrophages possess Ba-reductase, and are thus competent to metabolize testosterone to DHT. This physicochemical information is complemented by a functional analysis of macrophage metabolism of testosterone. By incubating bone marrow macrophages with testosterone, before their use as accessory cells, the IL-4 and IL-5 producing potential of the activated T cells cocultured with them was depressed. That the observed effect was mediated by the conversion of testosterone to DHT was further corrob-

متن کاملThe Effect of Beta Interferon on Dendritic Cells and Cytokine Synthesis by CD4+ T Cells
Background: Dendritic cells (DC) are a key regulator of the immune response, and interferon- beta (IFN-β) is considered an immunomodulatory molecule for DC. Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the ability of IFN-β treated DC to induce cytokine secretion by CD4+ T cells. Methods: Dendritic cells were generated from blood monocytes with granulocyte-monocyte colony-stimulating fac...

Objective(s):Although recent investigations have shown chronic inflammation and inflammation-associated diseases might be ameliorated by exercise; little is known about the relation between exercise training with anti/pro-inflammatory cytokines. Materials and Methods: This cross sectional study was conducted to compare interleukin-4 (IL-4), IL-6, IL-10, IL-12, IL-13, interferon gamma (IFN-γ) le...

Introduction: Interleukin-2 (IL-2) as a T helper type 1 (Th1) cytokine has an important role Background and Objective: Interleukin-2 (IL-2) as a T helper type 1 (Th1) cytokine has an important role in activation, growth and differentiation of several immune cells. Moreover IL-2 is known as a pro-inflammatory and anti-tumoral cytokine. In addition deysregulation of IL-2 in some diseases such as ...

Recent studies have established that sex hormones directly or indirectly affect T and B cells and macrophages by manipulating the production of cytokines. In this study the possibility of the effect of 5a-DHT on macrophage (MΦ) nitric oxide (NO) release via interleukin-l, 6 (lL-1β, IL-6) or tumor necrosis factor-a (TNFα) was investigated. The endogenous cytokines IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α were ...
